This all sounds excellent! I'm very much looking forward to
betatesting it all :)
As I said, I'm not running any kind of portal service (seing as I use
m0n0wall for my home network), but I never the less find the concept
of having a portal page on my WLAN very appealing.
Even if I probably won't go as far as using a RADIUS server or such
hardcore security, the portal will not only be a cool thing when my
friends come by with their laptops, but will also provide me with an
opportunity to warn any "intruders" that my AP isn't some public
service for them to abuse, and perhaps even scare some of them away
with a bit of legal mumbojumbo (Should work just as well as those fake
car-alarms!)
In short: The portal feature is promising to become another great
addition to the already impressive m0n0wall featurelist, and I would
even say it is in rather good agreement with the original m0n0wall
missionstatement (after all, isn't a portal page a kind of "visual" or
"interactive" firewall?)
... Soon we will have to resort to feature-requests for screensavers,
a pong-game or support for espressomachines, since m0n0wall already
has everything else :))
