Subject:  Some Notes about "Broken Ports i.e DHCP Server" ( Manuel? :-)
 Date:  Sat, 24 Dec 2005 00:19:58 +0100
Hi Everyone ...

After some time of frustration (a lot had the problems) and a talk to
one from FreeBSD dot org i got an answer why some ports didnt
worked for software installations. On my Monowall Environment i
used some variables to make the installation and configuration much
more simply. As the Developers' Handbook say i also took the same
names $MWROOT and $PATCHDIR . I also added some others in
my .cshrc File. The reason why some ports are not working is, that
$PATCHDIR is sometimes in /usr/ports/* used too. With my Setting
in the .cshrc its not so fine for ports becouse patches don't apply clean.
If PATCHDIR points to /MWSCRIPTS/PATCHDIR (on my System
it do so) then dhcpd "argument" --subsys don't exist - and it cant run
correctly. make -VPATCHDIR shows then it points to PATCHDIR=
/MWSCRIPTS/PATCHDIR but for Ports it must be .../files/ in port Dir.

Manuel do it has a spezial reason that (you?) selected $PATCHDIR as
variable or can it be simple renamed for the MWPATCHDIR without
brake anything? That do interesting me? Did you installed dhcp from
ports or used the src tar ball to compile it?

Best regards,
Stefan Frank
