When I start to create my project, based on m0n0wall, this was my first
problem to solve:
My build of m0n0wall (based on FreeBSD 6) mount the filesystem in read-only
mode... It's why you have this error message:

mkdir: /var/run: Read-only file system

I solve this problem by adding this line in the /etc/rc file:
mount -u -o rw /

I think, that is not the best way for fix this problem, but it's work...

Regards,

Olivier
