After a minute or two of googling, I found this post that makes it sound
like XScale is ARM (unless the poster is wrong?).
http://unix.derkeiler.com/Mailing-Lists/FreeBSD/arch/2004-11/0120.html

There's a FreeBSD/arm mailing list here:
http://www.daemonnews.org/mailinglists/FreeBSD/freebsd-arm/..

The problem is that I'm not sure of what it would take to actually do a
cross compile... I've learned most of what I know about building things on
FreeBSD by looking at Chris's great developers guide (I still refer back to
it regularly!).

I have a netgear FVS338 which lacks good VPN support (which it is
designed for) and would like to use that one but I never done cross
compiling.
