I am running pfSense on my Soekris net4801 since 1.0 beta1 and have
never experienced the freeze issues anymore. Unfortunately I seem to
be one of the very few m0n0 users with those freezes, so at least from
my point of view I have to say: pfSense is more reliable/stable (in my
scenario that is).

See above: I have a Soekris, pfSense takes ages to boot up, also the
webinterface might be a tad slower, CPU usage has increased (because
of FBSD 6.x), but all of that (IMHO) does not matter once the unit is
running and "only" operates on a home DSL connection. My average load
on 2.5 mBit total bandwidth (everything fully utilized) is about 40%
CPU with loads of rules.
