I developed and submitted some code to make this happen a while back,  
but nothing came of it.  If this is a feature that the maintainers  
would like to see included, I can re-submit or further explain my  
implementation.

Otherwise, I'll develop a module to handle this and publish it once the  
the module 'spec' is complete and supported.  My personal need for this  
module has passed, but it seems like a lot of other people could use it  
for interesting routing situations.
