Actually, it does not translate.  The sound of the number 4 is very similar
to the sound used to say "Die" but not identical.  It is for this reason
that it is regarded as unlucky, similar to how we in the US typically avoid
the number 13.  13 doesn't mean die, but we consider it unlucky.

Perhaps not TOTALLY irrelevant, as that is what it did to firmware upgrades.
