This is a bug in msntp.  You will also find that if you try to use a
subdomain such as us.a.pool.ntp.org (just an example, not a real dns
address) the lookups will also fail.

For both of these reasons and the added fact that msntp does not
appear to have a maintainer pfSense switched to OpenNTPD.
