I suspect we could make 1.8 a release and remove the beta tag with little
effort.  I think we need a list of bugs to squash, do you feel like
compiling that list ;)

I think otherwise there will be incremental feature changes and the beta
tag may stick

For next version I'd sooner work on freebsd 10 I think. It takes quite a
bit of time to port across major versions.  Even taking 1.8 to freebsd 8.4
was a bit of effort , and there is some cool stuff in 9.x and up , like
ipv6 support for ipfw rdr so we can do captive portal for ipv6 right , and
mixed v4/v6 IPSec (v4 in v6 and v6 in v4) , that we should code support for
etc,  by the time that's done 10.x will probably be out of beta
