I'm not quite sure what specifically you're talking about which is poor
design, however assuming that you are referring to how sec & secs as well as
other singular and plural forms of the time units is the item up for debate,
I would argue that offering all logical iterations is the user-friendly
thing to do.  Too many programmers fail to understand that human beings use
their software and not everyone knows that 1 secs would be the correct way
to represent 1 second.  Everyone thinks differently, and if it's not
terribly difficult to offer several ways to express the input, by all means
make it friendly.  Now if he had programmed "Apples" to be the same thing as
seconds, then that would be absolutely terrible since noone that I am aware
of associates an Apple with a second of time. ;)

So, everyone can choose what he likes!

timeunit  is one of following: sec, secs, second, seconds, min, mins,
	  minute, minutes, hour, hours.

Please appology ;-)

That said, this is a poor design...
