Let's assume for the moment you DID disable the console - how would you
reconfigure the box??!?!

I don't think there is an option to run WITHOUT a console - I could be
wrong, but it doesn't seem to make any sense to me.

Why not use the serial port on this boards with an external modem?

I was figuring out how to do this, but if you can disable the console, 
why can't you you this serial port to have a backup dial-out link?
