Filtering Bridge on NICs with Realtek RTL8139 Chipset

I am struggling to get a filtering bridge setup to work between WAN and 
OPT1 interfaces which both use NICs with Realtek RTL8139D chipsets. 
According to the man pages of FreeBSD 4.10, bridging is only supported 
for some selected NIC drivers, and the rl driver for the Realtek chipset 
is not on that list.

Did anyone manage to get bridging to work OK using the rl driver anyhow?
