yes.  most built in NIC's on laptops are minipci.  though they don't
have a standard RJ45 jack on them, just a lead with 8 wires that you'd
have to wire up to a jack yourself.

Depends on the card.  The ones I usually see in laptops are 3Coms
supported by the xl driver, in which case, yes, it would work.
