Any chance you're using a DWL-520+ instead of a plain old DWL-520? It 
seems like the non-plus card (which has a PRISM chipset) is not 
available through retail channels anymore. The DWL-520+ (22 Mbps) is 
based on a TI chipset that doesn't work with FreeBSD.
