Easier yes - better? Maybe not... In a power fail, you could corrupt your CF image, then you lose the benefits of solidstate booting. Also, my understanding is that CF "disks" have a limited number of write operations before they start having problems. The problem is going to cause trouble with typical configs where log files are updated constantly - I'd do the math and see how long it will last? my 2 cents m/ -----Original Message----- From: Martin Holst [mailto:mail at martinh dot dk] Sent: Friday, November 21, 2003 12:34 AM To: m0n0wall at lists dot m0n0 dot ch Subject: [m0n0wall] RE: IDE CF card I'm using this one, which seems to be almost the same as the one you're suggesting: http://cfide.co.uk/compact_flash_ide_adapter_cfide_hdd.shtml Only difference is that this one detects as a hard drive in BIOS - and there's always write access. That way you can just use the generic PC (HDD) image without any modifications. Seems a bit easier ;o) /Martin -----Original Message----- From: Boris Rudoy [mailto:boris at rudoy dot com] Sent: 21. november 2003 01:51 To: m0n0wall at lists dot m0n0 dot ch Subject: [m0n0wall] IDE CF card I am found this device http://ide-cf.info-for.us/ And planing to use it as a replacement for CD-ROM + Floppy Can somebody confirm is it possible ?
