no hardware changed?
because some pci-pcmcia does not work on all (older) motherboards

try in exe.php

dmesg | grep irq

to if these a conflict

place to solve te problem is 

/etc/pccard.conf

egg:
irq 5 7 9 11 
or
irq 7 9

leave out the conflicting irq...
