Good catch on the 4.x (my machines are 5.3), and really good call on 
being able to do this from linux.  I'll be looking into this later.

I'm used to FFS2 (which I assumed could not mount in linux), however 
these images should be FFS right?

I will post an updated script later that can work in 4.x, 5.x, or linux 
(assuming you have the fs module).
