well I tried this with ptpp (mono 2 mono)
but de the pptp wan does not seem to connect to the ptpp server:

a. It cannot point to a default gateway, (I have multiple subnets)
b. even on the same subnet de client does seem to not connect.

so maybe ipsec is your best option :)
