Yes, I did use the console to set wi0 as the first optional interface
but after some additional poking around, I realized that I didn't enable
it under Interfaces ==> OPT1 menu in the webGUI. I went straight to
Status ==> Wireless, and saw the same message. Thanks for your
assistance!

Ehm, are you sure you used the console menu "Assign network ports"
option to make wi0 an optional interface?
