The NL-3054MP+ (http://207.213.242.90/admin/pAssocItem/NL3054MPFrisbee_100.pdf) is a Prism5 (Frisbee) based design. While the high transmit power is nice, the receiver leaves a whole lot to be desired, and on the whole, the cards don't sell well because they're not as good as a decent Atheros based design. There is no driver for this chipset in FreeBSD (not even in -current). You might check out: http://green.homeunix.org/~green/prism54-driver/pff/ You'll have to make it build and integrate it into your m0n0wall image. Note that the Senao NL-3054MP ARIES is an Atheros-based design, and will work with m0n0wall 1.2b7. (I happen to have one in a wrap board, running m0n0wall, (well, OK, right now its running -current, but with the swap of a CF card, the statement could be true) about four inches from my left elbow as I type this.) You'll have to decide if your time and effort are worth the price of a CM-9, NL-3054MP Aries or NL-5354MP+ Aries2. > and could the powersupply be an issue? probably not. jim p.s. while I'm here, netgate also sells m0n0wall powered outdoor 802.11 units (based on the wrap 2C) as well as offering a WRAP 1D in an indoor case with m0n0wall preloaded on a 64MB CF card. We call it the m1n1wall. :-) http://www.netgate.com/index.php?cPath=60 |
