I got it working now- But I still am a bit unsure where the daemon for
syslog runs from (ie-rc.local) I usually kill the syslog process and run it
with my own switches in freebsd.

Hi Gary,
Did you get a working solution to this question? Something not
mentioned is the "Enable syslog'ing to remote syslog server" option
from the webgui. It is under Diagnostics -> Logs -> Settings . Not
sure if this was what you were looking for or not.
