Beware of reseller currently selling Soekris 4501 boards on ebay. I bought one! Turns out the boards were a special order manufactured with only ONE NIC despite the fact that the seller copied the Soekris spec indicating 1 to 3 NICs in his Advertisement. Some are being offered with 802.11b mini-pci boards that are decent Prism 2.5 cards, but of unknown source. They do work fine for a dedicated Access Point, but are of little use for anything else. They are also very hard to setup as Access Points with M0n0wall unless you are good at fiddling with the xml config files on CF chips. Just try setting up the wi0 as your lan connection! Also, get a firm quote on shipping before placing your bid. The reseller charges $20 to ship a tiny little 4501 board without power supply. Just mentally add $20 to your highest bid before clicking on the submit button. Dan Someone once said: Not all that glitters is gold! |
