The problem was the computer I was using.  I switched computers and it
worked like a champ, it doesn't make any sense to me but I won't complain!

If there's a LAN, port, I think mono defaults to an IP 192.168.1or 2.1 for
LAN, and then you can add the wireless interface from the web gui through
the lan connection.  Make sure that the dhcp settings are ok after you add
the new device.
