I've had some difficulty finding a firewall (aside from Cisco PIX) that fixes up SIP packets traversing NAT. I've figured out that I can add this to m0n0wall fairly easily using libosip and siproxd, but fluffing around every time a new m0n0wall release happens, having to go install FreeBSD and play with making my own custom version of m0n0wall is... well... unappealing. So, what I'm asking, in a long-winded way, is - is a SIP protocol fixup a possibilty for a 1.3 beta release? It needn't neccessarily be based on the (beta) siproxd, which is a proxy (I know, I know - dirty word for m0n0wall) anyway (though it can be cut down I'm sure), but SIP fixups would make m0n0wall a much more attractive option for VoIP equipment suppliers. I'm prepared to do the work on this myself, but if it's not going to be included in the future, I'd like to know if I'm barking up the wrong tree :) - William Bryson |
