We have an installation with DSLExtreme that (for some reason!) has a WAN DHCP (PPPoE) lease of 5 mins or so. After several months of operation, the box WAN port locked up and the last entries in the log were: May 30 13:00:01 kernel: pid 102 (dhclient), uid 0, was killed: out of swap space May 30 12:58:26 dhclient: bound to 72.25.101.7 -- renewal in 132 seconds. May 30 12:58:26 dhclient: DHCPACK from 72.25.101.1 May 30 12:58:26 dhclient: DHCPREQUEST on sis1 to 72.25.101.1 port 67 (lots of similar DHCP log entries). This was with 1.2b7. Does anyone know enough to suggest what may have gone wrong? From my limited knowledge it would appear the dhcp client went bellyup, presumably from a small memory leak. Of course, I'm wondering if I switch to 1.2b8, or back to 1.1, whether anyone knows either way whether we'll hit this again. (Fortunately this box doesn't have an Atheros wireless card in it, so it is an option - though it does have a Senao 2511MP+ miniPCI card in case that's relevant). thx in advance! cheers, michael www.socalfreenet.org |
