If you are using my watchdog, simply send a normal kill signal and it will
stop and shut down cleanly. Evidence will be written to syslog - see the
man page. (a -9 will NOT shut it down - and will cause the watchdog to
restart the CPU some 15-30 seconds later the hardware way).
