General hints for everybody regarding speed/duplex settings on fastethernet:
Although there are 4 possible combination of settings only two of them
are valid:
- Both devices negotiate the settings (auto)
- Both devices are manually fixed to the same settings
Any other combination will result in errors, slowdowns and disappointment...
In real life use fixed settings for fix equipment and auto-negotiation
for mobile devices and you will avoid 99% of the problems.
