Jonathan! Great work! With your modifications it would make an excelent internet gateway. Hope to hear soon about the progress. Let me know if I could be of use as betatester. However I am also curious if other people are using monowall as an internet gateway. Anyone working with radius accounting and monowall? If so, what's your setup? I am currently trying freeradius on a laptop as a server (low power, small and battery backup), just for some experimenting. My goal is to extend the captive portal with a "subscription" page in which you can sign up. Probably using a script (on a seperate server?) accessing the mysql database with the user accounts. Anyone using a similar setup? Search for radius.... ;) J. -- Jonathan De Graeve Network/System Administrator Imelda vzw Informatica Dienst 015/50.52.98 jonathan dot de dot graeve at imelda dot be --------- Always read the manual for the correct way to do things because the number of incorrect ways to do things is almost infinite --------- -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- Van: wifi [mailto:northpark at home dot nl] Verzonden: dinsdag 11 oktober 2005 23:19 Aan: m0n0wall at lists dot m0n0 dot ch Onderwerp: [m0n0wall] doing more with radius Hi there! First of all, some incredible piece of software! Runs nicely mysoekris, and I am using it for an open hotspot experiment. I have used monowall and the captive portal succesfull together with a radius server. However it was only used to give users access to the internet. In latest beta version (and I asume the 1.2 version also, havent tried it yet), you could also make a user database on monowall itself, which is quite usefull, and radius can be eliminated for certain situations. So, it would be nice to be able to do more with the radius server, having specific restrictions per user. (for example traffic shaping or specific firewall rules). Is anyone using radius and monowall for more then just giving access? Any thoughts on how to extend the functionality of monowall for radius attributes?
