Question about Bittorrent port forwarding

I run bittorrent a lot and was wanting forward the ports to the client. It
works with the current setup but its slower then normal and when I look at
the log I see that its blocking a lot of the normal bittorrent traffic to
it. Can anyone point me to a guide where it explains how to set this up so I
can get my speeds back to normal on this?
