Sorry if this is answered previously or in a later message, I've been 
away for a couple days and still have a couple hundred e-mails to 
read... :-/

Is SNMP in m0n0wall enabled and usable with MRTG by default?

One popular use is to combine it with MRTG (Multi-Router Traffic Grapher) 
to get pretty pictures of your traffic flow.

Also used with network monitoring tools (What's Up?, OpenView, etc.) to 
watch for crashes and failures.
