Did you but the mrtg-graph in your crontab? I have a line like this in 
my /etc/crontab, which automatically gets data every 5 minutes and makes 
a graph:
*/5 * * * * root /usr/local/bin/mrtg /usr/local/etc/mrtg/neptune.cfg
