Yeah, it seemed to me that the performance was a duplex mismatch. I mean, that's how it felt when I've had that before. I do have a problem with this though on a quality level. I know it's a SIS bug but it's a Soekris product so you would think there would be some mention about it on their site. (I know this is the m0n0wall list, etc...) Anyway, I do appreciate the response. I did try a 20'cable ( I guess that's about 6 meters ). I guess I'll make a 70' cable (ugh, the cable modem it 2 inches away). If that works than I'll at least know what I'm dealing with. However I'll probably have it out with Soekris on getting a replacement or a refund. Unless a Linux FW would work, but that's like going from a machine gun back to rocks and sticks. -Bill -----Original Message----- From: Christiaens Joachim [mailto:jchristi at oce dot be] Sent: Friday, January 16, 2004 8:10 AM To: 'Manuel Kasper' Cc: M0N0Wall firewall Subject: RE: [m0n0wall] RE: Net4521 poor performance? > From: Manuel Kasper [mailto:mk at neon1 dot net] > even that patch helps because auto-negotiation fails, and the only > solution is to use a cable of 10 meters. Which leads me to the next question: is it possible to force a speed / duplex mode combination for the sis driver? If so, I'm willing to try some dev for the first time ;-) A little gui addition should be possible for me, I guess.
