Does the BIOS for the PC see the card? It should recognize it as a 16MB
IDE device, just like a hard drive.

Subject: [m0n0wall] Booting from CF

I have an older Compaq Presario PC.. I have an IDE <> CF card reader,
and a 16mb cf card in there.. I have written the img to the card. When
I have it in the system to boot, I get a message that no boot device
exists. I have tried all of the IDE ports, cable ports, and jumper
settings on the card.. no go..

If anyone has any ideas, or if I am missing something, any help would be
