We are using Monowall (generic PC - 1.21) with PPPoE to get an ISP
assigned static IP.  
We don't specify anywhere what the IP address is, it just gets assigned
to us.  
So it is certainly possible to do with Monowall, just perhaps
unsupported by your ISP.
