I've wrote it before but let's try it again since there was almost no
responce the last time. I have some
feature requests to, here we go:
option to stop portscans the way portsentry does or at least drop the
request for a few minutes when a portscan
occurs. With the current release people can scan forever.
option to send a (hourly/daily) "firewall-report-message" to the
administrator. With no external logserver
available there are only a limited number of records in the log. Changes are
that the administrator will never
know the his systems where scanned or that someone was trying something on a
port that is closed. A VERY bad
thing i would say.
option to create a 'blacklist'. You can of course make a blocking rule for a
host but it would be easier to
(automaticly?) create a blacklist which could contains hosts or networks.
There could be much more like Dos Attacks, PoD, Anti spoofing but these are
the most important ones IMHO. I
know that these days there is a lot to do with IPSEC, PPTP and connecting
LAN's but i think that when M0n0wall
is a firewall at least the basics should be build in. Agian, IMHO.

Subject: [m0n0wall] m0n0wall feature request
There are a few things I'd like to see on m0n0wall - as Dick has already
mentioned, a shutdown and reboot button would be nice.
As would the ability to log out of the console and have it wait for a login
- it doesn't appear secure when it is constantly sitting there on a logged
Also, some way that the user could be notified of available updates would be
nice. This way they would know if security or functionality updates are
available as and when they are released. Currently, the users need to be
subscribed to the Accounce mailing list, or happen across an update on their
occasional visit to the website.
