Howto Customize m0n0wall net48xx-1.22.img file?

Any one know how to customize m0n0wall net48xx-1.22.img file. I’ve done the following:

 

freebsd# mdconfig -a -f net48xx-1.22.img

md0

freebsd# mount /dev/md0 /mnt/flash

mount: /dev/md0 on /mnt/flash: incorrect super block

 

I’ve been able to modify the ISO image but not the net48xx image.  Currently I’m using FreeBSD 5.2
