I'm pretty sure you don't need to do any work here. m0n0wall recognise mac
addresses in lower case and *most* radius servers are case insensitive for
the username.

In my situation its lowercase :(

Can anybody please investigate this on his own radius systems?

If necessary I also add a uppercase/lowercase switch in the advanced setup
page defaulting to what most users have.
