Makes sense, not sure how simple, but a workaround; let the web GUI hold a domain name but only pass the IP address to the daemon when the VPN is established. IP addresses don't usually change when a connection is active and if it did it would break the vpn any way causing it to reconnect. When it reconnected the new IP address could be passed. -----Original Message----- From: Tech Terapies [mailto:tech at terapies dot org] Sent: Tuesday, May 23, 2006 7:30 AM To: 'jared'; m0n0wall at lists dot m0n0 dot ch Subject: RE: [m0n0wall] IPsec remote gateway, IP only. I tried various, but the problem is too big. As standard if you use a dinamic dns, the problem is, the system can resolve the direct name to ip, but can't resolve the inverses, as the inverse name is the ip original name as for example dsl.111.111.111.111-company-isp.tld If you try to resolve the name from your dynamic ip, your obtain the isp fqdn name. Is there a reason the remote gateway must be an IP address and not a domain? My IP address changes fairly regularly but I never worry about it due to monowalls exceptional handling of dynamic DNS. The only problem I do face is I have to update the VPN settings in about 5 monowalls. Is there any way this could be added to monowall? Jared |
