I was getting this just yesterday. Of course it was on a box I had just 
replaced the RAM on for kernel panics.  It also would hang with DHCP and was 
constantly hammering dyndns with renews.  A reboot fixed the login, but I 
replaced the hardware.  That was the last straw.
