It is also possible that the problem isn't actually your ISP.  If you 
use the ping method of testing using the do not fragment flag you'll 
discover the maximum MTU regardless of where the bottle neck is 
located.  Auto-discovery is supposed to handle that for you, but many 
times it doesn't work.
