How was it "working" on linux?  m0n0wall is a stand alone firewall 
appliance, not an OS level firewall software.  With only one interface, any 
client can get around the firewall.  As for the "one slot" thing, may I 
sugest http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=425380  I had 
a better priced one at
