And there are no end of other small BSD and Linux distros that fill that space without much differentiation. The key thing that m0n0wall has going for it is the pretty interface, IMHO -- it just looks nicer than the alternatives. You could, for example, overlay webmin on the top of m0n0bsd, have most of the functionality that I'm talking about, but it just wouldn't look as pretty.
