Hi. I work as a communications specialist for a it consultant company and we mainly recommend HP Procurve switches for our customers. I think they are reliable and fairly priced. They have most the features of similar-ranges ciscos at half the price, free software updates and lifetime warranty. In that price range, I would go for a HP ProCurve Switch 1800-24G (J9028A). They have all the features you have requested and comes with 22 +2 dual personality gig ports. It should cost slightly less than 400 euros. Spec: http://www.hp.com/rnd/products/switches/ProCurve_Switch_1800_Series/overview.htm If you want a totally silent (fanless) switch, a 2510 with 24 10/100 + 2 dual personality gig uplinks should be availible for around 330 euros. http://www.hp.com/rnd/products/switches/ProCurve_Switch_2510_Series/overview.htm You can get managed swiches from linksys and probably d-link and netgear cheaper - maybe at half the price of procurves or less, but these are consumer-grade switches. My experience is that sometimes they work properly and sometimes they don't, and they don't have any suitable tools for troubleshooting and you can't get any decent support - only firmware upgrades. I would not use such switches in corporate environments where downtime would be a problem. /Per F Pettersson Glen Page wrote: > I have standardized on HP Procurves for all of my managed switches. > You might find one in your price range.
