Hi,

All my PCs boot fine without keyboards, and have booted 1.22 without
keyboards. It was definately something to do with 1.3b2.

Thanks
Jai

This may be way off base, but does the machine normally boot without the
keyboard. Could the machine's bios be set to "halt on keyboard error"? I
remember a series of Compaqs that would not boot at all without a
keyboard.

Subject: [m0n0wall] Beta 1.3b2: "Keyboard: No" Error Causes Mono to not
boot after upgrade

Hi Guys,
In response to the below email, I have had an issue when upgrading a
generic
PC image from 1.22 to the 1.3b2. If I do a firmware upload remotely and
let
it reboot a keyboardless machine will reboot ok but will not load
monowall
as it comes up with a screen saying Keyboard:No on it. If i turn the
machine
off and plug in a keyboard it will book OK. However I plan to do this
upgrade to many monos but all of my machines do not have keyboards. Any
suggestions or has anyone perhaps modified the current image already? Or
is
it only something to expect in the next beta release? I have a mono
behind
NAT that I really need to get an IPSEC vpn working on so Im dying to try
the
NAT-T settings in 1.3b2!

I appreciate your help everyone!

Thanks
Jai

The switch that was added determines where the console output will be
directed
at boot time. The -P switch makes the assumption that if a keyboard is
detected
that the device is a PC and has a monitor so the console is assigned to
the
attached keyboard/monitor.

If a keyboard is not detected the assumption is that its some sort of
appliance
and the console is directed to the device serial port.

Are you basing the "did not work" because there was no further output on
the
monitor or did you attempt to connect to the GUI via the web browser?

I LOVE this change as now I can upgrade all my m0n0s without first
having to
change the release image. I've installed it on 3 m0n0s so far, all with
positive results.
