Hello,
I just upgraded with a minor problem to 1.23b2 like I did recently to
1.3b2 less succesfull. Different problems I think, but maybe they are
(both) related to the dnsmasq process?
For 1.23b2 I found a simple workaround, which I did not test in 1.23b1
yet. I don't really need the 'dhcpd integration' function and I don't
know it's known... Hope it gives some clue?
Greetings, HansT.
my tests:
--------------
starting with very stable Version M0n0wall 1.22:
with enabled: Register DHCP leases in DNS forwarder; logs:
dnsmasq[302]: started, version 2.27 cachesize 150
dnsmasq[302]: compile time options: IPv6 GNU-getopt ISC-leasefile
no-DBus no-I18N
------
After upgrade from 1.22 to 1.23b2:
DNSforwarder doesn't work, logs:
dnsmasq: ISC dhcpd integration not available: set HAVE_ISC_READER in
src/config.h
dnsmasq: FAILED to start up
Work around:
in Services; DNS forwarder:
uncheck: Register DHCP leases in DNS forwarder
=> dnsmasq[457]: started, version 2.35 cachesize 150
DNS and browse respons OK.
----------
Same test after firmware upgrade from 1.22 to 1.3b2:
Respons doesn't OK = SLOW, logs:
dnsmasq[108]: reading /var/db/dhcpd.leases
dnsmasq[108]: started, version 2.35 cachesize 150
dnsmasq[108]: compile time options: no-IPv6 GNU-getopt ISC-leasefile
no-DBus no-I18N
dnsmasq[108]: failed to access /var/db/dhcpd.leases: No such file or
directory
dnsmasq[108]: failed to access /var/db/dhcpd.leases: No such file or
directory
dnsmasq[108]: reading /etc/resolv.conf
Try same workaround:
in services DNS forwarder:
uncheck: Register DHCP leases in DNS forwarder
dnsmasq[108]: exiting on receipt of SIGTERM
dnsmasq[320]: started, version 2.35 cachesize 150
dnsmasq[320]: compile time options: no-IPv6 GNU-getopt ISC-leasefile
no-DBus no-I18N
dnsmasq[320]: reading /etc/resolv.conf
Response very slow but browsing works...
enable again: Register DHCP leases in DNS forwarder
dnsmasq[320]: exiting on receipt of SIGTERM
dnsmasq[396]: started, version 2.35 cachesize 150
dnsmasq[396]: compile time options: no-IPv6 GNU-getopt ISC-leasefile
no-DBus
no-I18N
dnsmasq[396]: reading /var/db/dhcpd.leases
dnsmasq[396]: reading /etc/resolv.conf
Still a delay in response when browsing.
--------------
Going back to 1.22:
dnsmasq[99]: started, version 2.27 cachesize 150
dnsmasq[99]: compile time options: IPv6 GNU-getopt ISC-leasefile no-DBus
no-I18N
dnsmasq[99]: setting --bind-interfaces option because of OS limitations
dnsmasq[99]: setting --bind-interfaces option because of OS limitations
dnsmasq[99]: read /etc/hosts - 12 addresses
dnsmasq[99]: reading /var/db/dhcpd.leases
dnsmasq[99]: reading /etc/resolv.conf
Prompt respons again...
Same change in services DNS forwarder:
uncheck: Register DHCP leases in DNS forwarder
dnsmasq[99]: reading /var/db/dhcpd.leases
dnsmasq[99]: exiting on receipt of SIGTERM
dnsmasq[327]: started, version 2.27 cachesize 150
dnsmasq[327]: compile time options: IPv6 GNU-getopt ISC-leasefile
no-DBus no-I18N
dnsmasq[327]: setting --bind-interfaces option because of OS limitations
dnsmasq[327]: setting --bind-interfaces option because of OS limitations
dnsmasq[327]: read /etc/hosts - 12 addresses
dnsmasq[327]: reading /etc/resolv.conf
Of course no difference in repons now,
-------------------
again try upgrade to 1.23b2:
dnsmasq[100]: started, version 2.35 cachesize 150
dnsmasq[100]: compile time options: no-IPv6 GNU-getopt no-ISC-leasefile
no-DBus no-I18N
dnsmasq[100]: setting --bind-interfaces option because of OS limitations
dnsmasq[100]: setting --bind-interfaces option because of OS limitations
dnsmasq[100]: reading /etc/resolv.conf
still with unchecked the 'Register DHCP leases in DNS forwarder'
response is good.
------------------------
Upgrading to 1.3b2 again:
Warning:
Firmware uploading is not supported on this platform, but after reboot:
dnsmasq[108]: started, version 2.35 cachesize 150
dnsmasq[108]: compile time options: no-IPv6 GNU-getopt ISC-leasefile
no-DBus no-I18N
dnsmasq[108]: reading /etc/resolv.conf
Slow response again....
Only stange kernellogs I see:
