So you just want one big switched network?  Why use m0n0wall or 
pfsence?  Just get 2 WRT54GLs, put Thybor on them and crank up the 
power, add shotgun directional antennas, and set one AP, and one 
client.  Should be stable, trouble free, and simple to run.
