1.3 is based on FreeBSD6 , 1.2 is based on FreeBSD4.11

The reduction in throughput is expected. The network stack performance
on 4.11 is (was?  FreeBSD 4 is now EOL )  mind boggling good.  Dont
expect to see the likes of that again anytime soon.
