Now I can ssh from a host in the WAN area to the ssh server behind the
loadbalancer in the LAN area.



Strange thing is, that NATing is activated by default. But OK, that rtfm

Then you need to disable NAT (see FAQ). I was under the impression it
was a typical Internet firewall, if it's just a router, you need to
disable NAT and then your allow all rule will let through the SSH.
