I would imagine a ALIX board would be more than enough for this. iirc a soekris 4801 will do about 28-30Mb (slightly less with device polling enabled - think in the region of 25Mb) New ALIX board should comfortably handle more than those speeds. Although this somewhat depends on what you are doing with it. If you have IPSEC, VPN, etc... running then it will lower those figures. In Switzerland Cablecom has just introduced a new cable-internet subscription with 25Mbit down and 2.5Mbit up. I am using the wrap1e203 with monowall 1.23b3. I only can get a throughput / speeds of 15-17Mbit. Do I need to change hardware and get an ALIX board? Does anyone have speed tests for any of the ALIX boards? Thanks Sebastian |
