If permanence of the changes is desired, you should be able to modify
the actual m0n0wall image using CB's workon.sh script. The downside is
that you get to maintain these changes yourself and apply them to the
next release should you wish to stay current.

Note that this is not the same thing as building m0n0wall from modified
sources, which would be yet another approach.
